The Association of N-power beneficiaries has extolled President Bola Ahmad Tinubu for the suspension of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.

The president suspended the minister to investigate the allegations of corruption meted in the ministry. The association said the suspension was long overdue.

Comrade Kasimu Sani Wada, the Kaduna state Chairman of the association, made the commendation in an interview with journalists.

Comrade Wada said the association was established at the inception of the program in 2016 by the then president Muhammadu Buhari. He said the association enabled them to solve their internal problems and the one between them and the government.

He affirmed that the Association has benefited greatly from the program for over seven years. “A long time ago there were those who started it, and we later came in Batch C Stream II, and represented the beneficiaries”, he said.

Explaining the reasons why President Bola Ahmad Tinubu temporally suspended the program to the outcome of the investigation, Comrade Wada said; it is not true that the former minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq has fully paid the beneficiaries; “To be honest with you, this statement is a lie. No one was paid or was given a dime”.

“The outstanding payment was paid when Tinubu came on board. They paid for three months i.e for October, November, and December since then nothing was paid again”.

The Association has urged President Bola Ahmad Tinubu to look at them with compassion; “glimpsing how the president took our situation seriously, and even temporally suspended the program to leave room for investigation, to be sincere, we believe him and we rally our support to him”.

He added; “In a short time, he suspended a minister and asked for investigation to ascertain what happened in the ministry. This is commendable. We are glad that the president comprehends our outcry and he took a step to address it”.

He appealed to the N-power beneficiaries to be more patient and support the President to ensure a transparent investigation.
