The state Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Yobe State has announced the postponement of the 25th May, 2024 Local Government and Councillor elections.
The Executive Chairman Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) announced to newsmen in Damaturu.
According to him “the May 25th 2024 date of election as earlier broadcasted is no longer realistic. Due to logistics issues and other reasons that may impede the seamless and free and fair Local government council election in state it therefore became imperative to adjust the date of the Election to 8th June 2024. That is 2 weeks after the May 25th date.”
“On our timetable,e the only changes will be the date of the Election 8/6/2024, and the time to stop the campaign. The announcement of results follows after the Election”.
“I sincerely thank you all for listening, and bearing –with the commission on a current issue.” He said.
