Ekiti Government has announced the commencement of the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination in all the 16 local government areas of the state.

Dr Oyebanji Filani, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, made this known in Ado-Ekiti, on Friday at a sensitisation exercise.

Filani urged the residents to make themselves available for immunisation against the deadly virus.

He advised those that have not been vaccinated during the first phase of the exercise to do so without delay.

Filani explained that the Moderna vaccines were for residents that have not received any jab of COVID-19 vaccination before.

According to him, anyone who has received the first dose of Astra- Zeneca vaccines should wait for the second dose that would arrive soon.

The commissioner allayed the fears of the people against the rumor that the vaccine has negative effects.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment toward ensuring that all residents have unfettered access to the safe and effective vaccines.

Filani also advised the residents to take advantage of the state government’s gesture and get vaccinated.

The commissioner said that getting the vaccination remains the most effective way to curtail the virus.
