Yola-Based IDP ‘Rapes’ Mentally Challenged Minor

A 53-year-old man identified as Usman Tela Ahmadu, an internally displaced person (IDP) residing in Samunaka, Yola North Local Government Area, has been arrested for sexually assaulting a mentally challenged minor.
The suspect, who hails from Maiduguri in Borno State, has reportedly been receiving gifts and undue support from locals in the area.
According to the suspect’s confession, he has sexually assaulted the mentally challenged girl four times since the beginning of the year 2021.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, expressed his worries about the incident and called on parents and guardians to provide necessities to their wards to prevent them from accessing criminally-minded people.
CP Babatola added that there was no hidden place for criminals of such character in Adamawa State.
He said Strategies to checkmate gender-based violence and other criminal activities have been emplaced in these ember months.
