Nigeria Athletics Masters (NAM) says it has commenced preparations for the maiden edition of the veteran athletes in the track and field events, road running and cross country running.
NAM which disclosed this on Saturday in Lagos during a news conference said that it would be known as the Nigeria National Open Master’s Athletics Championships.
Livinus Osaze, the Chairman, Marketing Committee of NAM, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the competition scheduled for March 14, 2020 at the Yaba College of Technology.
He said that the competition would feature participants aged 35 years and above.
He added that the maiden championships would serve as a prelude and selection of the team that would represent the country at the World Masters Athletics Championship slated for between July 21 and Aug. 1, 2020 in Toronto, Canada.
Osaze appealed to corporate bodies, partners and individuals to sponsor the event and assured them that they would benefit immensely from doing so.
He said that platinum, gold, silver and bronze packages would be awarded to anyone who sponsored the championships.(NAN)
