The Chief Judge  (CJ) of Ogun, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, has urged the staff of the state  judiciary to look ahead with high expectations and a strong resolve to do more in this new year.

Dipeolu said this during a prayer session organised for the state judiciary staff to usher in Year 2021, held  at its  headquarters, along Kobape, Abeokuta, on Tuesday.

The chief judge who spoke  on humility, diligence, loyalty, honesty and fervent prayer, said all of them would produce the reward for good work and more success in the sector.

“ I want to say  that I expect more from you as to whom much is given, more is expected.

“We can all bear witnesses  that our condition of service is improving gradually and so if we are improving on what we are giving you, your outputs should improve,” she said.

Dipeolu also reeled out her administration’s achievements  in 2020 which include: the creation of Bondmen Licencing Board, the purchase of vehicles for magistrates, the creation of more magisterial districts, the promotion of staff, the appointments of chief magistrates, senior magistrates and magistrates.

Other achievements, according to the chief judge are: the renovation of courts, induction course for magistrates, training of magistrates, judicial research officers and members of staff.

“Also, the disbursement of allowances to judicial research officers, medical check-ups for magistrates and others , supply of office equipment and the creation of staff development centres.”

She, however, emphasised on the creation of bondsmen licencing board, saying that  beginning from this new year , professional sureties/bondsmen would,  henceforth , be appearing before judges and magistrates across the state.

“The bondsmen regulations and practice directions, which are aimed at discouraging touting by unlicensed persons who stood as surety for those on bail bond from absconding,  will also ensure that such criminal offenders  are produced seamlessly when needed in court,” she said

According to her, the bondsmen scheme and licensing board will also make bail of suspects on trial in courts more accessible, faster and timely.(NAN)
