NPFL: Jigawa Golden Stars Defeated by Wikki Tourists Football Club

Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi on Sunday defeated visiting Jigawa Golden Stars of Dutse 2-1 in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in Gombe.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Wikki Tourists are using the Pantami Stadium as home ground, pending the completion of renovation of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.

Wikki came from a goal down to secure the two goals in the 47th and 59th minute through Saudi Abubakar and Idris Guda respectively.

The visitors scored their lone goal through Lala Abdullahi in the 9th minute.

Coach Garba Ibrahim of Wikki Tourists commended his boys for their resilience throughout the match.

Ibrahim stated that first match was always difficult to play and his boys stood up to the challenge by the visiting team.

He expressed satisfaction with the officiating, describing it as “fantastic.”

On his part, Coach Rabiu Tata of Golden Stars said: “ I appreciate the outcome of the match. The boys played according to my instruction and I have no problems with them.

“As we go on in the league, we will improve and work harder to ensure that we survive in the league and remain here.”

While expressing optimism toward winning the next match, Tata said he was a little bit disappointed in the officiating. (NAN)
