The Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST) graduates 31 youths after an intensive 8 weeks of training on footwear and Leather-goods manufacture. The skill acquisition training, which was sponsored by the Succour for Almajir Initiative, had its beneficiaries across both genders.
In his speech, the Director-General of the Institute, Prof. M.K Yakubu commended the graduates for their doggedness and dedication to the rigorous training the efforts that are now paying off. He therefore declared that “today, each of the 31 graduands will automatically become self-dependent and self-supporting to start their individual businesses as they will also benefit from start-up business. They will also simultaneously become employers of labour who would be able to put food on other people’s table by providing jobs.”
According to the DG, NILEST is not only creating skilled and healthy graduates. It is graduating self-dependent, self-employed people who are also employers of labour. “I am bold to say that in the face of the present challenges in global economies, we are creating jobs and fighting hunger in Nigeria with every training being conducted by NILEST.” He declared.
“For our graduates, you are lucky to have been given an opportunity that is rare to come by because many were trained to study and look for jobs and are still searching for jobs endlessly. We recognize today how much the world has changed. Therefore, we determined to prepare you for the future by training you to create jobs for yourselves and others rather than wait for jobs to be created.” Prof Yakubu added.
Alhaji Lawal Ibrahim Kankia, Wazirin Kankia FNIM, who represented the sponsor, thanked the DG and his management team for offering the participants the best and quality training According to him, the quality of the training is second to none. He then congratulated the beneficiaries and gifted Starter Packs to them
