NBTE Inspects Resources At Bauchi Oil, Gas Academy

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has assessed both human and material resources ahead of the full takeoff of Bauchi State Oil and Gas Academy.
LEADERSHIP reports that Bauchi State Oil and Gas Academy sited in Alkaleri and the first of its kind up the Niger, sought NBTE’s approval to start National Innovative Diploma (NID) in nine programmes.
The nine proposed NID programmes include, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Technology, Computer Software Engineering, Solar Installation Technology, Automatic and Mechanics, Welding and Fabrication, Buildings Construction and Hardware Engineering.
Speaking shortly after completing the inspection visit, a leader of the accreditation programme, Mrs Fatima Kabir, said they were in the state to see human and material resources at the Academy which is a solid foundation for the full take off of the institution’s academic activities.
Mrs Kabir said the National Innovative Diploma (NID) programme is a two year, four semesters programme of the National Board for Technical Education under the Federal Ministry of Education created to handle technical and vocational education matters in the country.
She said the accreditation team after its findings would advise the appropriate authority to ensure full accreditation of courses proposed by the academy.
The rector of the academy, Dr Ahmed Suleiman Yero, said the proposed programmes were introduced to achieve proficiency and real-life practical experience for students.
He added that the programmes were also introduced to provide access to technical and vocational education in the state at the higher level.
He revealed that the state government has provided the academy with all the requirements and a temporary site at the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi to ensure full accreditation of its proposed programmes.
