The essence of representation at various legislative chambers is to present the needs of the people and follow up to ensure the fulfilment of all promises made during campaigns and rallies. It is quite acknowledged that some representatives are doing their best in presenting the needs of their people and also strive to secure employment for the youths in their constituencies. Good examples of such Representatives are Honourable Aminu Goro of Fagge local government, Honourable Abdulkadir Jobe of Rimin Gado/Dawakin Tofa/Tofa, Honourable Saha’aban Sharada of Kano Municipal, Honourable Gudaji Of Kazaure/Roni/Gwiwa/Yan Kwashi from Jigawa state and Honourable Kabiru Amadu Mai Palace of Gusau/Tsafe from Zamfara state who always devoted their time in struggling for the overall development of their constituencies. This can be attested by the series of motions they initiate and proposed at the floor of the national assembly and their efforts in securing employment vacancies for their people at various Federal agencies. Another interesting thing with the style of their representation is the regular empowerment support programmes they conduct at every quarter of the year where women, youths and the old are provided with financial and material support for entrepreneurship businesses.
However, the story is quite different in my constituency as our representative has not recorded such achievements despite the number of unemployed graduates in our constituency. In view of this, it has become imperative to wake our representative up from slumber and advice him to emulate the likes of Goro, Jobe, Saha’aban Sharada, Gudaji Kazaure and Kabiru Mai Palace who happen to be his colleagues at the national assembly and actively striving to serve their people as a form of reciprocity to their electorates.
I will finally call on the Honourable to consider the possibility of identifying the unemployed youths with a view to help them with employment vacancies in some of the Federal agencies.
