Karu LGA Chairman Presents 2022 Budget of N6 Billion

Mr James Thomas, Chairman, Karu Local Government Area, has presented the 2022 budget for the area of about N6 billion to the Legislative Arm of the Council.

Thomas made the budget presentation at the new Legislative Chamber, Karu Local Government Secretariat, on Friday.

Thomas, who tagged the 2022 budget as “Budget of Growth”, said the budget estimate is N6,830,704,469.

According to Thomas, Capital expenditures is 54 per cent with N3,259,387,234 while the recurrent expenditures is 46 per cent with N2,824,317,234.

Thomas explained that the budget covered the construction of roads across urban and rural areas in the local governments, provision of water, recreational centres, electricity, the renovation of the council’s secretariat for conducive working environment.

He added that other areas captured in the budget include the construction of primary healthcare clinic, youths and women empowerment among others.

He then called on the legislature to ensure the speedy passage of the budget to enable him give assent for urgent implementation.

Earlier, Hon. Suleiman Mallam, Speaker, Karu Local Government council, commended the Chairman for presenting the budget and urged members of the Legislative Arm to cooperate to ensure the passage of the budget in record time after scrutiny.

The chairman was accompanied to the Legislative chamber by his deputy, Lawal Karshi, Director of Personnel of the Council, Mrs Comfort Makama, among other directors.
