Mr Dasuki Arabi, the Director-General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), has called on public and civil servants to key into the national strategy on public service reforms to address the challenges of COVID-19.
According to him, the 2020 public service day is dedicated to all women and men who risk their lives and health amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said this served to recognise all the brave and hardworking workers; working for the essential public services, especially amidst the pandemic.
He said that the pandemic had assisted in enforcing the IT plans of government leaving government workers with no other option than to key into the IT plan meant to make their work easier.
Arabi said that the government was planning to introduce rewards and recognition system to encourage government workers, but the pandemic had hindered the plan for this year.
”Lots of initiatives are coming up to recognise hard work and reward performance in civil services, not only in cash, but also in special capacity programmes.
”We are also going to carry out a study on retirees and also strengthen pension reforms so that when workers exit the system, life will become easier and not the other way round,” he said.
