By Khalid Idris Doya

The Recovery Officer of the BUA transport department, Salisu Hamza Ahmed has expressed disgust over the negative tendency portrayed by the Bauchi state Government on the auto accident involving their trailer vehicle last Monday at Daben Kasuwa along Bauchi – Kari road in Ganjuwa local government area of the Bauchi.

The Bauchi state government, according to the transport department of the company, deliberately concealed the truth about the accident without necessarily digging out the truth on the matter before commenting or taking a stand or decision on the fully loaded trailer vehicle that sommersalted as a result of tire burst.

Salisu Hamza Ahmed told the press in Bauchi Thursday that the trailer vehicle was fully loaded with cartons of Spaghetti when it sommersalted and fell lying on the road.

Malam Salisu Ahmed said that Governor Bala Mohammed was wrongly informed by his informant (s) that the fallen down spaghetti fully loaded trailer vehicle was guarded by the Daben Kasuwa community against looting by unscrupulous elements in the village.

It could be recalled that Governor Bala Mohhamed based on the report communicated to him about the claim act of patriotism by the Daben Kasuwa community approved for the award of 200 bags of rice and millet to them that the act is unprecedented in this period of food scarcity.

He said, “What actually happened was this trailer vehicle fell down as a result of tire burst at about 8:30pm, that was when some members of vigilante were crafted to guard the commodity loaded lorry, and a process to get an empty trailer of the company to evacuate the foodstuff began”.

The transport recovery officer explained that the substitute empty vehicle was obtained only late in the day during the Ramadan fast breaking, and that was when members of the Daben Kasuwa community started looting the scattered cartons of the spaghetti.

“We were at the accident site 1:00am the next day, together with men of the police force, supervised by a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) with the security operatives using teargas to disperse the hungry looting members of the community while evacuating the cartons into the substitute trailer, despite the unabetted looting”.

The BUA recovery officer disclosed that they were able to upload only 1, 573 cartons of the spaghetti, while a number of 2, 927 cartons were looted by the Dabe Kasuwa villagers, saying however that the painful thing in the whole scenario was the wrongful act of patriotism hoodwinked bestowed onto the community by Governor Bala Mohammed.

According to the officer, Governor Bala Mohammed should have used his good office to inquire from the DPO about what actually transpired in the auto accident, against being lured by surrogates whose clandestine activities are only to satisfy their self- aggrandizement.
