Mr Valentine Ozigbo, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Nov. 6 Anambra elections has promised to revamp the state’s economy if voted into power.
Ozigbo made the promise on Monday night in an event tagged ‘’Let Anambra Shine brighter’’, organised by the Anambra Igbos residing in Asaba, the Delta capital.
He called for support through prayers, money, materials, as well as mobilising others to vote for PDP in the elections.
Ozigbo said that he decided to contest in order to fix Anambra and become a mouthpiece for the Igbos.
He cautioned against voting for those who would defraud the state to settle their personal debts, adding that currently the state was highly indebted and needed to be bailed out.
The governorship candidate said he would provide qualitative education, health care and jobs for the youth and women.
He said the current insecurity in the state could be solved through negotiations and partnership with relevant stakeholders as this would ultimately make investors feel at home.
“I am not running for governorship for the people of Anambra alone but for the Igbos because there is a lot that we can’t do alone unless we do together.
“And one of the things I stand for is unification of Igbo nations.
‘’All the five states need to come together, there are negotiations and development that we cannot do separately at the federal level unless we work together,’’ Ozigbo said.
“This is the time for us to use Anambra to set an example of what transformation and good governance should be in Nigeria and this is why I am in the race,’’ he said.
Earlier, Mr Obinna Chidoka, member, representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in Anambra, described Ozigbo as very competent.
According to Chidoka, the debt burden of Anambra is huge and only the PDP candidate has the competence and capacity to defray the debt and industrialise the state.
The hosts, Chief Chinedu Obido, Eze Ndi Igbo in Asaba and Mr Victor Mbanefo, President, Anambra in Delta, pledged to support Ozigbo for the Nov. 6 Anambra Governorship election.(NAN).(www.nannews.ng).
