Woman, 32, In Court For Allegedly Stealing From Employer

A 32-year-old accounting officer,  Christiana Johnson, who allegedly stole N570,672 belonging to her employer, was on Monday charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Johnson who resides at 10, Beckley Adekunle St., Yaba, Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing, but she pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between April to November at 123, Joel Ogunnaike St., G.R.A, Ikeja.

Odugbo alleged that the defendant stole the money  from Western Star Fire Hotel.

The prosecutor said that the  company detected the theft during an  audit.

He noted that stealing contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency Nigeria reports that the section stipulates three years’ jail term for the offence.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs S. K. Matepo, admitted the defendant to bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Matepo adjourned the case until Jan. 8, for mention.
