The American Business Council Nigeria in partnership with the United States Chamber of Commerce, Nigerian Investment Promotions Council (NIPC), National Association of Securities Dealers Automatic Quotation System and the Nigerian Exchange Group, will hold a US-Nigeria executive business dialogue and high-level reception on the margins of the ongoing 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be the special guest of honour at the event and will ring the NASDAQ closing bell as part the event, the organisers have said.
The event will mark the President’s first official visit to the United States following his election as Nigeria’s president and will hold in New York City at the NASDAQ headquarters on Wednesday, September 20.
The NASDAQ stock market opened for operations in 1971. This officially marked the first automated exchange market in the world.
NASDAQ remains an active stock market and currently it is ranked as the second largest stock exchange in the world.
Ringing of the closing bell is a popular tradition at NASDAQ, which officially marks the end of a trading day.
The president of American Business Council Nigeria, Sops Ideriah, said the dialogue will be pivotal in driving stronger relations with the U.S. and Nigeria.
Ideriah said American and Nigerian high-level corporate leaders of companies like the Lagos Free Zone, TGI, American Tower Company, Procter & Gamble, Flutterwave and Google will also be at the event.
