Troops of 1 battalion Dukku barracks Birnin Kebbi and Vigilante have successfully rescued six kidnapped victims and dislodged scores of bandits in Shanga local government forest in Kebbi State.
The sucess recorded followed a proactive rescue operation effort lunched by the combined security team in the Shanga local government forest on Friday after reports of the kidnapped victims.
According to Director of Security, AbdulRahman Usman, the six male rescued victims were all hale and hearty and have since been reunited with their families.
He explained troops of 1 Battalion Dukku Barracks Birinin Kebbi on clearance operation in collaboration with local Vigilante conducted a raid operation to Kogon Damisa Hill around Saminaka in Shanga Local Government Area, a border town between Kebbi and Niger State.
According to him , during the operation, the team dislodged large number of bandits and rescued 6 kidnapped victims.
“The victims have been reported missing , I mean kidnapped for some time now.
‘ Security operatives in the area comprising the army and the local vigilante were alerted and they swung into action inside the Shanga forest, Successfully the victims were rescued by the same troops.
The Director, commended the gallant efforts of the troops while also reiterating the unwavering commitment of Gov. Nasir Idris led administration toward supporting the security agencies in the state.
He said that apart from the continuous logistics support from the governor to security operatives, the state chief security officer has given marching orders to all security personnel to deal decisively with any threat to lives and properties of people in the State. He explained.
