Monday the 2nd day of December, 2019 is the most important day in our history of hundreds of years, and a landmark that will never be forgotten and will always be remembered in our history by future generations who will come and benefits from his legacies. What makes this day a special is nothing more than the ground breaking ceremony of Federal University of Transport Daura which will facilitate educational, infrastructure and socioeconomic development of the host community, Katsina State and Nigeria in general.
Whosoever want to achieve sustainable development should invest in education to make it accessible and affordable specifically to the less privileged who cannot afford to move out of their communities in search of knowledge. Those who lives in places that have higher institutions can attest to this assertion such as Zaria, Kano, Katsina, Gashua, Dutse and Dutsinma among other places too numerous to mention here.
The people of Daura Emirate embraced education both Western and Islamic, and have been yearning to have institutions of higher learning that will ease the difficulties and hardships faced by the less privileged in their quest and search for knowledge.
Daura missed a lots of chances to have institutions of higher learning since first republic but for personal and political reasons they where all wasted but still we keep our hopes alive.
The major reliefs of easing our quest and search of knowledge in recent time was championed by the former Governor and President of Federal Republic of Nigeria late Alhaji Umaru Musa Yaradua who relocated college of Legal and General Studies to Daura. We are all living witnesses on the contributions of this institution in facilitating educational, infrastructure and socioeconomic development of Daura. We really thanks him for that, may Almighty Allah in His infinite mercies forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatil Firdaus as his final resting place.
Development is something in all aspects of life that will not fall from the sky without the collective efforts of the community leaders and supports and understanding of the followers as well as appreciating and commending their efforts.
President Muhammadu Buhari in the entire history of Daura is the number one son who touches the lives of Daurawa in many more ways positively than any Badauri dead or alive, without further elaborations we all know what happened in the past and present courtesy of him by others.
When former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan established additional universities in Nigeria, our leaders went to the former Governor his Excellency Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Shema and requested him to give the site of the proposed university at Daura, but he persuaded and convinced them he is going to site it at his hometown which to me is among his legacies the people of Dutsinma are benefiting and enjoying. Since that time our people are hoping to see the day when we are going have degree awarding institution in our Emirate that will bring education to our doorsteps within the reach of the less privileged.
The youths of Daura Emirate appealed to the President Muhammadu Buhari for the establishment of Federal University which from the initial stage some people within the Emirate kicked against it and mocked those asking for the establisment of the university that PMB is not going to listen to their demand; and now it is a clear testimony that PMB do listened to his people’s appeals and demand. He now proved those who thinks he do not listen wrong. Like other past leaders, he is not the only one that established institutions of higher learning in their hometowns.
God’s Almighty is indeed really merciful, the youths asked, appealed and demand for the establisment of university, but through His infinite mercies he crowned our calls with the Federal Polytechnic Daura through the combined efforts of late distinguished Senator Eng Mustapha Bukar (Madawakin Daura), distinguished Senator Ahmed Babba Kaita and PMB, and Federal University of Transport through the combined efforts of Hon Minister of Transport his Excellency Rt
Hon. Chibuke Amaechi, PMB and others who have contributed positively towards the realization of this university.
We sincerely appreciates and thank Almighty Allah for these favours which will not be possible without Him.We equally express our profound gratitudes to PMB and all those who contributed in one way or the other towards the actualization of this dream. May Almighty Allah rewards you abundantly and protect you against all known and unknown evils of men and spirits.
We thank you PMB as the most illustrious son of Daura who’s contributions towards the development of Emirate surpasses those of any other dead or live.
