Shun Social Vices, Rector Advises Students

Newly-admitted students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State have been advised to shun social vices and develop themselves digitally to be self- reliant.
The rector of the institution, Dr. Temitope Alake, who stated this said the polytechnic mission statement is to train and develop self-reliant manpower for sustainable technological development of Nigeria.
He added that the outstanding successes achieved by the institution hinged on the importance placed on acquisition of vocational and entrepreneurial skills known as saleable or manipulative skills.
Alake spoke at the weekend during the matriculation ceremony held for the new students admitted for the 2023/2024 session held at the polytechnic main campus in Ado Ekiti.
A total of 3,900 students were matriculated with 2,000 of them admitted for the National Diploma, 1,900 were for Higher National Diploma.
During the event, sixty deserving best students in ND 1 and HND 1 across all departments received the Rector’s award for their excellent performances in previous academic sessions.
The rector who noted that the polytechnic remains a highly sought-after and one the most attractive to candidates in the country told the fresh students to count as the among the few offered admission out of over 16 thousand applications received. “For one admitted three others were dropped”.
He, however, warned the students against engaging in all forms of anti-social and unethical activities.
“The polytechnic has zero-tolerance for examination misconduct, prostitution, cultism, sexual harassment, hooliganism, gangsterism, corruption, Yahoo-yahoo and other social vices. Indecent dressing is not allowed.
