Officials on Thursday said that a roadside bomb has killed 13 civilians in Afghanistan’s northern province of Kunduz.
Councillors Safiullah Amiri and Aminullah Aydin added that two civilians were wounded in the incident in the Imam Sahib District of the province.
Officials said that the victims were on their way home from a wedding party when their car hit the bomb.
They blamed the Taliban for the incident, saying that the militants plant bombs in the area of their control to deter Afghan security force’s movements.
Zabiullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman said they were investigating the incident.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) documented that over 2,500 civilians have been killed, and more than 5,600 wounded in the first nine months of the year.
