Poverty Reduction: Lawmaker Donates Cash To 165 Women In Zamfara

The Lawmaker representing Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency in Zamfara, Alhaji Kabiru Maipalace has donated cash to 165  women traders  in Gusau Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking while presenting the donation in Gusau on Monday, Maipalace said the gesture was part of the fulfilment of his campaign promises.

He said each of the 165 beneficiaries would be given N10,000 as support to improve their  small scale businesses.

“Apart from the cash donations, we also purchased empowerment tools, food items worth over N10 million to be given to other categories of small scale traders comprising males and females.

“I am committed to tackling unemployment and poverty among our people especially youths and women,”  the lawmaker said.

He said the assistance would be given to the beneficiaries irrespective of their political affiliations.

Earlier, Secretary of the lawmaker, Mustafa Hassan said another set of beneficiaries would be  supported with empowerment tools.

“We provided tools comprising 50 grinding machines, 50 bags of Soya beans, 10 Sewing Machines, three freezers to be given to selected small scale women traders,” he  said.

According to him, another category of unemployed youths will benefit from the donation of a car, 13 motorcylces, five generators and clippers for youths earlier trained in barbing.

Hassan said other beneficiaries of the Is a were 13 orphaned  families who were given food items.

In his remark, the Senior District Head of Gusau Emirate, Alhaji Bashir Danbaba appreciated the efforts of the lawmaker, saying  that the gesture would tackle poverty and unemployment among youths in the state.

He urged other political office holders to emulate the lawmaker.
