Police Unveils 3 Ambassadors To Mentor Youths Against Cultism

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) on Friday unveiled three new ambassadors to mentor youths against cultism, substance abuse, sexual and gender-based violence.

The POCACOV’s National Coordinator, CSP. Ebere Amaraizu, said at the unveiling of the ambassadors at the Inspector-General of Police POCACOV Resource Centre, Enugu, that it was part of the strategies for effective sustenance of its campaigns.

“On behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, we thank the newly unveiled POCACOV Ambassadors for making themselves available for the important campaign to save youths from cultism and other vices,” Amaraizu said.

He reminded them of the mandate to be carried out, including reduction in the incidence of cultism and other vices nationwide through sensitisation, advocacy, mentoring and reorientation.

“POCACOV is bringing broad spectrum of celebrities under the umbrella of POCACOV Ambassadors, drawn from all parts of the country as a platform for effective sustenance of its campaigns.

“You people will systematically join in spreading this message in communities, using various means of communication to discourage and save Nigerian youths from such social vices, thus making our country safe and secured,” the POCACOV’s National Coordinator said.

Responding, Jude Dawan, popularly known as “Alhaji Tanko” from Plateau, thanked IG-P Mohammed Adamu, for the initiative.

Dawan, who spoke on behalf of the newly unveiled ambassadors, promised that they would work with different stakeholders to help deepen the group’s message.

The newly unveiled ambassadors include: Dawan, a reputable artiste, notable comedian and Programme Manager of Dream 92.5 FM, Enugu.

Others are: Ifeanyi Igbokwe, alias MC Igbokwe, a reputable artiste, actor and comedian from Abia and Moemeka Onyeka, alias Lyrics, from Delta.

He is also a reputable artiste, actor and comedian.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adamu, during the national flag off of POCACOV in Enugu on Aug. 29, 2019, inaugurated the first set of the ambassadors led by a Veteran Actor, Nkem Owoh, alias Osuofiason, among others.

The IG-P also inaugurated the NYSC/POCACOV Community Development Service (CDS) group, to deepen and sustain the campaign at secondary and primary schools throughout the federation.

The newly unveiled POCACOV ambassadors are to join the likes of Owoh; Actress Patience Ozokwor (MAMA G); Mutiu Adepoju (Headmaster); Actor Damola Olatunji; former Super Falcons player and Assistant Coach, Maureen Madu, among others.
