Nigeria Tennis Players Qualify For 2024 Paris Olympics

Nigerian Tennis players Olajide Omotayo and Offiong Edem have joined the list of African players that have qualified for the table tennis event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Omotayo and Edem qualified for the Olympic Games after reaching the finals of the African Qualification Tournament taking place at the BK Arena in Kigali in Rwanda.

Edem who was the first to secure her spot in a 4-3 win against Tunisia’s Fadwa Garci in the semi final of the continental qualification championships, joyfully took to her facebook page to write:

“Thank God we made it… See you in Paris. 5 times Olympian blessed…”

Encouraged by Edem’s victory, Omotayo secured himself an easy passage to Paris with a 4-0 win against Saheed Idowu of Congo Brazzaville.

This would be his second appearance at the Olympics after his maiden outing at Tokyo 2020.

Omotayo also took to his Facebook page to post a video of his winning stroke with the caption, “I believed.”
