Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Thursday, toured two border towns to ascertain compliance with the directive on interstate border closure.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor was in company with the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Shina Olukolu, and other heads of other security agencies.
Makinde, at the end of the tour, expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance, though he said “the compliance has not been 100 per cent.”
He observed that the security officers at the two borders were doing their best to ensure total compliance.
“Apart from the express roads; Ibadan – Lagos or Ibadan-Ile-ife, where you have a lot of traffic and challenges, things are a little bit decent at the other border posts.
Among the challenges, according to the governor is a place for the personnel to stay when it is raining.
He said there were also other things that could make them comfortable while on duty.
On whether there would be sanction for erring violators of the interstate restrictions, Makinde said he believed much in holistic approach to issues.
“I have to discuss with other governors in neighbourig states; we have said that each governor should take care of the interstate motor parks in his state.
“This is because once these parks are locked down, we would see a lot of reduction in people trying to move out of their respective states,” Makinde said.
