The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with the death of Oladoyinbo Sunday, a socialite known as “Saybayo.” Sunday’s body was found naked on a street in Akure on December 10, 2024.
Police identified the suspects as Atinuke Adeniyi, 29, and Adeojo Ilesanmi, 50. According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer Funmilayo Odunlami, Adeniyi claimed she and Sunday were romantically involved. She told investigators they were together in a brothel when Sunday became ill and started convulsing. Out of fear, she left the room without him.
Adeniyi’s statement led police to Ilesanmi, the brothel owner. Ilesanmi admitted transporting Sunday’s body to the location where it was found, stating he panicked upon discovering the death in his establishment.
The statement read, “The SWAT team through intelligence-led policing apprehended one Atinuke Adeniyi aged 29 years who claimed she and the deceased were involved in a romantic affair and that on the day before the corpse was dumped, she and the deceased made out in a brothel in Ijapo, after which the deceased started convulsing and out of fear, she abandoned him and quietly left the room.
“The suspect led the police team to the brothel where one Adeojo Ilesanmi aged 50 years, the owner of the brothel, was arrested. He confessed to having taken the corpse to the scene where it was found with claims that he was afraid when he realised the deceased died in his brothel.”
Odunlami confirmed the investigation is ongoing and both suspects will be charged in court once completed.
