NILEST Sets To Establish School Of Engineering

The Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST) is putting up a plan to establish a School of Engineering in addition to the array of other Programmes being offered to the public.

Prof.M.K Yakubu, the Director-General/CEO, revealed this today when he led some of the principal officers on an inspection tour to the Institute’s site II located along Basawa Road, Zaria.

The DG who resumed work today, Monday the 31st of July, 2023 after his annual leave, had first inspected the ongoing renovation of some of the Institute’s facilities which includes the general examination office, the office of the Director of Academic Planning located within the DG’s Complex and proceeded to also inspect offices newly renovated at adjacent to the O. S Ladeji Library Complex.

Prof Yakubu, upon expressing satisfaction with the level of job done, proceeded to the Institute’s Board Room where he chaired the procurement bidding meeting. The closing of the meeting led him to the inspection of the Institute’s site, which is under construction of access road and landscaping.

The inspection tour provided an opportunity for the DG and his Team on the one hand, and on the other hand, the Contractor, to reconcile and determine the siting of the various structures which includes but not limited to the Students’ Hostel, sports complex, Tannery, School of Engineering and a host of others to be housed by the Site.

In the company of the DG on the inspection tour is the Director of Administration and Services/Registrar, Mr. Y.Y Midat, the Head of Procurement, QS (Pastor) Gabriel Oladija, the Director of Legal Services, Barrister Yakubu Afuwai, Remi Basorun, the Head of Information and Protocol, the Managing Director of Zasan Global International Limited, who is the Contractor to the Site, and a host of others.
