The Mater Dei Communication, a moral rebranding group, has urged Nigerians to uphold high level of morality and legacies of the founding fathers in order to rebrand the country.

The Country Director of the centre, Mr Nnamdi Okpara, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Enugu that at 60 years of independence, Nigerians are expected to be citizens of good conduct that do what is morally right.

According to him, they are expected to cohabit with each other as one nation, live a righteous life and extinguish anything that will bring dichotomy.

Okpara said:  “This is the period we should drop all forms of acrimony and live as one indivisible entity.

“We have gone beyond carrying of arms and killing of one another as well as all forms of bad conduct that does not promote the country.

“It is a time we should be talking about industrialisation and  technology advancement that will progress the country and improve the living standard of people.”

He regretted that the country was having hitches here and there because its citizens were not playing according to the established rules.

“The economy is down because of the abnormal way we do things and we need to change our attitudes and orientation.

“Nigeria is a divine country that ought to have been competing with the European countries at 60.

“If we begin now to show and demonstrate high level of morality and integrity, the economy will become better, if not best in the world,” he noted.

The coordinator added that the moral rebranding campaign, which began in 2000, had recorded milestone achievement as many Nigerians are now embracing it.

He stated that the country would soon become the moral rebranding city of the world.
