The Community Awareness and Development Initiative (CADI), a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) on Wednesday distributed sets of school uniforms to 200 enrolled out-of-school children in Gagi, Sokoto South Local Government Area of Sokoto state.

Alhaji Sani Umar-Jabbi, Chief Executive and Chairman of CADI, said at the occasion that the donation was part of the organisation’s robust efforts toward addressing the educational challenges in the area.

Umar-Jabbi, who is also the District Head of Gagi, noted that the stakeholders’ engagement and collaboration would enable the government and people in the state to address the educational challenges.

“The promotion of the girl-child education through this kind of support will help in addressing the parents’ fears in supporting the female children to realise their potential in this direction.

“We believe the government alone cannot effectively satisfy the demand for education hence the need for stakeholders’ engagement.

“Community ownership is key to addressing the out-of-school and drop out in Sokoto,” Umar-Jabbi stated.

According to him, CADI has successfully empowered no fewer than 600 out-of-school children in different forms within Gagi community and expressed optimism to do more in the sector.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ceremony took place at the Almajiri Boarding School, Gagi.
