The Forum of Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants to Gov. Bello Matawalle have donated N5 million to settle bills of 1,000 patients on admission in  hospitals in Zamfara.

The Beneficiaries, mostly women and children, were Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and victims of banditry  on admission in five hospitals in Gusau, Tsafe and Bungudu local government areas.

Inaugurating  the cash donations at Yeriman Bakura Specialists Hospital, Gusau on Friday, the forum Chairman, Abubakar Danmadubi, said the donations would reduce the hardship many IDPs were going through to access medical care.

Danmadubi said the exercise was part of the Matawalle administration’s effort to support women and children displaced by bandits in parts of the state.

“We are here to assist the sick, especially those that could not pay their medical bills due to the hard times we are in.

“Our aim is to put smiles on the faces of the patients no matter how little, hence we cannot wipe away their tears completely,” he said.

Danmadubi appealed to other individuals and organisations to reach out to those in need of assistance, especially the sick ones.

On his part, secretary of the Forum, Hudu Yahaya said the assistance would go round 1,000 patients suffering from different ailments in the five selected hospitals.

Yahaya said the donations would get to the beneficiaries who were on admission in  five public Hospitals in Gusau, Tsafe and Bungudu local government areas.

He noted that the gesture was intended to  complement the efforts of Gov. Matawalle in the area of healthcare delivery.

” What we are doing today is to follow the footsteps of our principal, Governor Matawalle, who on monthly basis visits hospitals to see the sick and also assist in settling their medical bills.

“We deem it fit to put smiles on the faces of the patients with the token we have.

The forum appealed to wealthy individuals and corporate organizations to assist the needy and the sick.

Some of the beneficiaries thanked the forum for the gesture and prayed God to bless the Matawalle’s administration.
