Man in Court For Allegedly Stealing Car Brain Box

A driver,  Matthew Igbokwe, 49, who allegedly damaged a car vet glass and stole its brain box, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant,  whose address was not given, is being tried for conspiracy, wilful damage and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Christopher John, told the court that the driver, committed the offence on Nov. 12 at Igbaja St., Ilupeju, Lagos.

John alleged that the defendant broke the vet glass of a Toyota Corolla to gain access into the car to steal the brain box,  where the complainant, one Mr Tunde Alabi, parked it.

The prosecutor said that the broken vet glass worth N5,000.

“The defendant was apprehended by a passer-by who saw him tampering with the car where it was parked,” John said.

According to him, the offences contravene Sections 287, 350 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however,  pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka, granted the defendant bail of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Nwaka adjourned the case until Jan. 11, 2020, for mention.
