A 38-year old man, Hassan Zubairu, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, for alleged negligence and breach of trust.
The defendant, who resides at Akilu Road, Kaduna, is facing a two-count charge bordering on negligence and criminal breach of trust.
The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, said the complainant, one Salamatu Kabiru of Ungwan Sarki, Kaduna, reported the matter at Gabasawa Police Station on June. 11.
According to Leo, the complainant alleged that sometime in March 2022, the complainant rented a damaged shop from the defendant with agreement that the defendent would repair it.
He stated that after the complainant paid, he failed to repair the shop and as a result of rainfall, the complainant’s properties were destroyed.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 301 and 351 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Emmanuel said the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case until July 24, for hearing.
