The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) in collaboration with the lawmaker representing Mushin 1 Federal constituency, Mr Adeyemi Alli, have trained some youths from Odi-Olowo/ Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Illupeju Lagos, in the art of film making.
The Newsmen reports that the beneficiaries were on Thursday, trained in the art of film directing, script writing, acting, steel photography, cinematography and production management.
Mr Edmund Peters, Head, Film Production, NFC, said that this was to encourage the youths to embrace film making as an alternative means of wealth creation.
He said this was important at a time when the Federal Government was trying to diversify the nation’s economy.
Peters said the essence of the training was to improve the quality of movies produced in the country as the beneficiaries get exposed to the professional way of film making.
“We want to create the awareness that film making is a business and not only a means of entertainment.
“This is just a start-up for the beneficiaries; whoever, that is still interested in going for more knowledge after the training can enroll in the National Film Institute.
“We have been to many states of the country and we will do more because people must realise that film making is an employer of labour,” he said.
Earlier, Hon. Adeyemi Alli, representing Mushin 1, Federal constituency urged participants to take advantage of the opportunity.
Alli, who was represented by Mr Williams Isaac his senior Administrative Aide said the training programme should engage the youths in fruitful ventures upon completion of the programme.
A beneficiary of the training, Mr Adeyemi Adenigbagbe, who had been into music, film editing and directing said he had enrolled to enhance his knowledge in the art of film making generally.
Adenigbagbe commended the organisers of the training, urging other local government areas in the state to ensure such kind gestures was extended to the constituency members as this would serve as encouragement for intending film makers.
” I like to appreciate the organisers for this great opportunity, I have improved my knowledge indeed, the training has been explicit and well comprehended,” he said.
