Kebbi Race Course To Be Named After Emir Of Gwandu

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris has promised to named the state race course ground after the Emir of Gwandu Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar (Rtd).

He stated this at the final match of Horse race Competition held in Birnin Kebbi, the State Capital.

He said that the competition would be elevated to be annual international event to not only entice the audience but also to ensure good governance.

“I am going to make this game to be an international one to elevate its status and ensure that it gain more recognition, I really appreciate the involvement of Emirs in this competition and their blessings count a lot,” he added.

In his remarks, the President International Horse Race Competition and the Estu Nupe, Maj.-Gen. Yahaya Abubakar thanked the Kebbi State Governor as well as the organisers of the programme for making it successful and reality.

The Governor’s Horse club, which emerged overall winner in first position won a car in addition with a cash, the second position got cash with a motorcycle, while the third position was given a cash reward.

Also in a separate interview with newsmen the chairman and the Secretary Local organising Committee on Horse race in honour of the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Mustapha Usman Ka’oje Sarkin Bargun Ka’oje and Laminu shehu kuwwa, who is also the secretary council of chiefs thanked Royal Father Etsu Nupe and all other invited guest for supporting the competition, while prayed long life, good health and prosperity for His Royal Highness the Emir of Gwandu.
