Kebbi Earmarks N8.9bn To Construct, Upgrade 120 Schools

The Kebbi State Government said it has earmarked N8.9bn for the construction and upgrade of 120 schools and classrooms under its Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE).
The state governor, Nasir Idris disclosed this at the flag-off of the construction of additional blocks of classrooms at the Government Day Secondary School, Bubuce in the Augie local Government Area of the state at the weekend.
He said, “This flag-off will enable the construction, design and upgrade of 120 schools from primary to secondary schools under the AGILE programme”.
He said his administration desired to change the educational fortune of the state for the better by creating an enabling environment that would promote and enhance girl-child education.
“For us, education is a priority and good education for the girl-child is our guarded and guided obligation that must be promoted and sustained at all cost,” he said.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, said the projects would be spread across the 21 local government areas of the state.
He said the governor has approved some selected schools in the 21 local government areas where the AGILE project would be carried out to enhance learning.
