Kano State Will Step On Rampant Construction Of Boreholes And Production Of Sachet Water

Kano State government, through the Ministry of Water Resources, has inaugurated a task force committee to check the rampant drilling of boreholes.

The committee was also tasked with regulating the production of sachet water, locally known as “pure water,” in the state.

In a statement by Rukayya Uba Sulaiman, Public Relations Officer of the ministry on Thursday, the committee was inaugurated by Permanent Secretary, Abdulmumini Musa Aliyu Babani.

The committee “is charged with the primary responsibility of regulating the rampant construction of boreholes and sachet water production.”

She said the committee would also serve as a means to boost revenue generation in the state.

“The Committee Members Consist of Professionals in both Water & other Sectors.

“The Permanent Secretary charged Members to work diligently with cohesiveness for the success and upliftment of the Ministry and the state Government,” the statement reads in part.

The committee members include Bello Adamu Takai as chairman, Bala Baba Shu’aibu Deputy Chairman, Aisha Suleiman Member, Dr Nura Shanono Member, Abba Aminu Member, and Mustapha Ibrahim Yola Member.

Others are Umar Tukur Member, Auwalu M Sani Member, Ibrahim Yusuf Madobi Member, and Nai’ima Mustapha Umar served as secretary.
