Government says it will take responsibility of returning students back to their respective states as a result of the sudden closure of schools in response to Coronavirus pandemic.

Hajiya Hafsat Baba, the Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development said this  in an interview with newsmen on Saturday in Kaduna.

Baba said the intervention was necessary because of the sudden closure of the schools which was not anticipated by parents.

The Commissioner said the state government would collaborate with major stakeholders, especially religious and traditional leaders to ensure the avoidance of social gatherings.

“We will partner with FOMWAN to ensure that all Islamic schools are closed.

“We will also seek the support of traditional leaders to monitor and ensure weddings and naming ceremonies are not held in their different communities.

“Government has deliberately put such measures purposely to protect all citizens from contracting the virus.

“People should please endeavuor to adhere strictly to the directives given by Government to stop the spread of COVID-19,” Baba pleaded.

She advised people to practice proper hygiene, saying “even if people can’t afford hand sanitizers, they should constantly wash their hands with soap under a running tap water”.(NAN)
