Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin, the Sarki Sasa of Hausawa community in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, has been suspended over alleged insubordination and disrespect to the Olubadan of Ibadan land.
Daily Trust learnt that Maiyasin was suspended on Wednesday when the Hausa community in the state converged on a meeting held at Sabo, Ibadan North LGA, headed by Seriki Hausawa of Ibadanland, Alhaji Ali Zungeru.
He was also accused of unlawful conferment of chieftaincy titles on people without recourse to Sarki Hausawa of Ibadanland.
Zungeru noted that the continued stay of Maiyasin as District Head was capable of igniting a crisis in the area, hence his suspension.
He added that the suspension order shall stand pending the decision of the entire Arewa Community Council in Ibadan.
“It was during the reign of my elder brother, Shuaibu Dikko III, in 1983 that Maiyasin was appointed as a District Head, otherwise known as Baale in Yorubaland for administrative convenience with the hope to maintain peace, sanity and justice among the Hausa community in the Sasa area.
“It is in line with this, and to avoid anything that can lead to intra and inter-communal clash as we did experience before in Sabo-Sagamu, Sabo-Ile-Ife and recently in Sasa community in Akinyele Local Government that, I, Zungeru, the Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland and all the members of Arewa traditional institutions have decided to suspend the appointment of Maiyasin as the District Head of Hausa community in Sasa area, over insubordination, disrespect for the referred stool of Olubadan of Ibadanland and unlawful conferment of Chieftaincy titles on the people without recourse to Sarki Hausawa of Ibadanland.
“The suspension order shall stand pending the decision of the entire Arewa Community Council in Ibadan,” he said.
