Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, Executive Director, OES Energy Services Limited, has urged Muslims to reflect the teachings of Ramadan in their daily activities.
Adegoke gave the advice at a news briefing on Monday in Ibadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adegoke is the Ajia-Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland and Founder, Adegboyega Adegoke Resource Centre (AARC).
He said that the lessons and teachings of Ramadan, if reflected by Muslims in their daily activities, would engender a better society, where love and peaceful coexistence would reign supreme.
According to him, they should ensure that the society feels the impacts of the fasting period in their characters and relationship with others, particularly non-Muslims.
The Ibadan chief enjoined the Muslims not to allow the lessons and significance of the Ramadan fasting end with the holy month, adding that they should continue to pursue peace for national development.
“Our Muslim brothers and sisters worldwide, during the Ramadan, pleaded with Allah for forgiveness. I urge them not to return to their sins. They should not disobey the teachings of Islam and the laws of the land.
“As we combat the menace of coronavirus, I urge everyone, irrespective of religion, position or tribe, to obey the laws and follow the preventive and precautionary measures to curtail the spread of the virus,” he said.
Adegoke called on the leaders to have greater concern for the poor and give no room for unnecessary materialism, greed and accumulation of wealth.
“If the spiritual core of man is recognised, there will be better perspective about life. It will also leave no room for materialism, greed and primitive accumulation of wealth,” Adegoke stated.
He felicitated the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, the high chiefs and the entire people of Oyo State for witnessing the end of Ramadan fasting, praying that they witness more of it in good health.
