The Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR), a Non-Governmental Organisation, on Tuesday inaugurated Hausa language online news platform to enlighten the public on Hajj-related activities across the world. The National Coordinator of the group, Mr Ibrahim Muhammad, in a statement in Abuja, said that the Hausa version of the news medium was meant to address public demand for credible platform that would serve the populace in local language.
”The establishment of the Hausa version of Hajj Reporters online is meant to address the demands from the public who have been eager to have a credible medium in their local language that will educate and enlighten them on major and minor pilgrimage issues,” he said.
He said that the new Hausa version of Hajj Reporters online would concentrate on pilgrims education and enlightenment, local and international news on Hajj and Umrah, and orienting the pilgrims on Hajj administrative policies as obtained in Nigeria and in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“It is our belief that one of the major barriers to pilgrims education and enlightenment is how it is communicated and the ease with which they can translate that knowledge into practical action during pilgrimage operation.
“We are, therefore, determined to communicate with pilgrims using the language they are most comfortable with,” he said.
He also said that preparation had reached advance stage for the establishment of Hajj Reporters Online Television, Radio, as well as world-class Hajj online Research Platform where people could access and make researches on useful materials about Hajj and Umrah from anywhere in the world.
