Governor Buni Signed 2022 Budget Into Law

Yobe state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, no Thursday signed the N163 Billion budget for 2022 fiscal year into law. He said the budget christened,  ”would ensure” completion of all ongoing

projects, initiate new ones, create employment opportunities and promote self-reliance.

“It would also concentrate on provision of basic infrastructure for speedy development. We would maintain our drive on revitalization of education and agriculture, explore more wealth creation and revenue generation opportunities to achieve our set goals.”Buni assured.

The governor commended the state assembly for timely passage of the budget saying, “this exhibits the cordial working relationship between the two arms of government and our collective commitment to move the state forward. We will continue to strengthen this synergy for the benefit of the state and our people.”

Buni said the assembly was diligent in its oversight functions “We submitted a total sum of N164,054,384,000) to the state House of Assembly as our budget for the 2022 fiscal year.”

“In line with its oversight function, the House of Assembly made some adjustments thereby decreasing the total budget size to N163,953,384,000.”

Adding that, “the net allocation to finance the recurrent expenditure is now N90,296,243,000), while the sum of N73,657,141,000) is earmarked to cater for capital expenditure.” He said.

However, the governor reiterated his appreciation to the good people of the State for supporting the.policies and programmes of government.

“We have created the right atmosphere for the sustenance of our policy on transparency, accountability, due process and financial discipline, and the implementation of the budget would be guided by these values to promote budget discipline and implementation to meet our set goals.” Governor said.

In the other hand, Buni said “I wish to congratulate us all for the two consecutive years of record-breaking rating of the state by “BudgIT” the independent Budget monitoring and implementation organization.”

“Yobe state was rated as second best state Capital Budget expenditure after Kaduna state which promoted service delivery in education, healthcare delivery, trade and commerce, roads construction and housing among others.

“I dedicate this achievement to the good people of Yobe state and assure you of our commitment to build on this feat to provide more dividends of democracy to our people.” Buni said.
