The Office of the Nigeria First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has distribute N25 million to 250 senior citizens of Zamfara under the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS).
The First Who was represented by Wife of Zamfara State Gov. Hajiya Huriya Lawal at the occasion to distribute the fund which held in Gusau on Friday, said the economic empowerment program was a steadfast commitment to the well being Nigerians especially the age 65 and above in the country.
According to her each of the selected beneficiaries will receive the sum of N100,000 cash, this was main to cushion the effect of the economic situation and to alleviate the burdens of our esteemed elders during festivities.
Also speaking at the event the Senior Special Advise to the Governor on Political Alhaji Yahayya Yari appreciated the efforts of federal government for taking care of the elderly persons in the country.
Yari said the senior citizens of our dear country deserved such from the government and we must commend the President for this foresight that stabilized retired and other old age people.
He assured state government support to all policies and programs of the federal government for betterment of the state and Nigeria as whole.
