In view of the fact that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) , is among areas predicted to be prone to flooding during this year raining season, the Ddirector-General of FCT Emergency Management Agency , Alhaji Abbas Idris has advised the residents of the city to be very cautious and be on alert for possible occurrence of flood.
Idris who made the call in a chat with journalist on Sunday in Abuja, added that the agency, was fully prepared to face any impending challenges should cases of flood disasters occurs.
“NiMet has predict that a heavy rain fall this year and FCT is on the probable category of flood occurrence, with pointer that 4 area councils of Bwari, Gwagwalada,Kwali,and AMAC and being very prone to possible flooding, as such we are very prepared we don’t want a repeat of what happened last year where we lost a prominent director in our agency in a flooding incident that occur in Galadima roundabout” he said
The stakeholders have come together to put in a strategy in facing any consequence ‘ he said
He further informed that the agency has organised a vigorous enlightment program to sensitze the populace on steps to take before, during and after flooding.
