An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Monday remanded one Adedokun Adelakun, 28, in a correctional centre over alleged N150, 000 fraud and theft.
The Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Nov. 21, 2019, at Oke-Ogbo, Olorunsogo, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi alleged that the defendant cheated one Olabiyi Ayorinde by fraudulently obtaining the sum of N150,000 under the pretence of making a wedding dress for him which he failed to do.
He alleged that the defendant converted the N150,000 to his personal use.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 383 (3), 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of fraud and stealing.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Ben Adidieje, however, applied for bail for the defendant in liberal terms.
He also pledged that his client would not jump bail and would provide reliable sureties.
But Magistrate Muhibah Olatunji declined to grant bail to the defendant and ordered his remand in Ile-Ife Correctional Centre
He adjourned the case till Tuesday.
