The Former Governors Forum (FGF) has felicitated with Muslims and non-Muslims alike all over the country on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr festival, saying it’s an opportunity to appreciate and celebrate with one another as one united people.

In a statement jointly signed by Chief Servant, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, former Executive Governor of Niger State, and Prof. Tunde Esan, chairman and executive secretary of the Forum, respectively, they noted that the principled sanctity of waiting, self-denial, and sacrifice embedded in fasting, is one of the cardinal templates of practice for laying a foundation for national growth and development in a nation.

“The national celebration which cut across all tribes in Nigeria, where muslim and non-muslims are, reminds us of our oneness and togetherness as a nation. It is therefore an opportunity for us to appreciate and celebrate with one another, as a people bounded in love and unity.

We equally use this opportunity to call on all Nigerians to continue to embrace principles of brotherliness: care for the needy, and the underprivileged that the of Ramadan season equally symbolize, and continue to pray for peaceful coexistence and great future for our nation.

“May the blessing of Ramadan fill the heart of Nigerians with peace, joy and prosperity. We wish all a joyful Eid al-Fitr filled with love, happiness and countless blessings. Happy Eid-el Fitr,” the former governors stated.
