The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has appealed to the Federal Government to ensure the urgent completion of the permanent site of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Bida, Niger state.
The Etsu Nupe, who was represented by the Mayaki Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Mayaki, made the call at the 2021 Stakeholders Forum of the FMC, in Bida, on Friday.
Abubakar, who is the Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, said doing so would enable the centre to move to the permanent site and provide efficient services to the people.
He lauded the centre for doing very well in providing quality healthcare services to residents of the state and beyond, including secondary healthcare services to its teeming patients .
“We know that the centre has challenges because of the influx of patients, but we shall surmount all that with continuous support from the Federal Government,” he said.
The traditional ruler commended the hospital’s Board, Management and Staff, for living above board in the discharge of their responsibilities, pledging his continuous support to the centre, to enable it achieve more successes in the provision of its services.
Also, the FMC Board Chairman, Alhaji Is’haq Usman, Sarkin Shanun Jere, said the board was delighted to be associated with the peaceful and hospitable Bida community, led by the revered Etsu Nupe.
The chairman said several capital projects had been completed at the centre, while some others were in progress.
Usman explained that the board recorded some feats in the area of industrial peace and harmony, through regular dialogue between the management team and the union leaders.
“Staff welfare is always accorded top priority, to ensure productivity and motivation and this will never be compromised.
“Regular community engagements were sustained to foster mutual understanding, cooperation and collaboration”, he added.
Usman disclosed that the board had agreed to expand clinical services, leading to the introduction of an Intensive Care Unit, Dialysis unit, Reproductive technologies and Scan, among others, at the centre.
The Medical Director of the centre, Dr Mohammed Aminu-Usman, said the forum would encourage a lot of cooperation and support by stakeholders.
“This forum is an important platform to periodically interface, to share information, concerns and experiences, on the services rendered by the centre,” he said.
Aminu-Usman called for more contributions from participants at the forum, to support the development of the hospital, as well as enable it sustain the provision of quality healthcare services to the people. (NAN)
