Mr Vincent Ezekwueme, The Chairman, Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), Anambra chapter, on Saturday called on Nigerians to emulate Jesus Christ’s selfless life as they commemorate the Easter.

Ezekwueme made the call, while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on the essence of Easter.

He said Nigerians, especially Christians should use Easter, not only to reflect on the sacrificial life of Jesus Christ but to emulate and live out His selfless life through positive actions.

“Easter is the apogee of the salvation mission of our Lord Jesus Christ on earth.

“It is imperative we use this period to cultivate the unique virtues of love, forgiveness, charity, empathy, selflessness and sacrifices which symbolises the feast of Easter.

“Worthy of note is that one has not lived unless he lives for others,’’ he said.

Ezekwueme appealed to Christian leaders to use this Easter to pray and entrust the country into the hands of God, especially “our security challenges’’.

He said: “Nigerians should see the need to forgive one another and forge ahead in order to live in peace and actualise Nigeria of our dreams, hopes and aspirations.

“As Easter is the harbinger of hope, may it bring peace, unity, love, tolerance, progress and prosperity to all humanity irrespective of tribe, religion, ethnicity, class or clans cleavages’’.  (NAN)
