Mr Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, Commissioner for Youth Development in Delta, has urged youths to embrace hard work and discipline in order to achieve success in their educational pursuits.

Egwunyenga made the plea on Wednesday in Asaba in commemoration of the 2020 edition of the World Students Day.

The commissioner stressed the need for youths to exhibit hard work and discipline in their academic pursuits.

He said that the state government was committed toward evolving policies that would trigger youths development.

“As a government, we are taking steps toward meaningfully engaging youths in programmes that will re-orientate their mindsets for positives inputs in the society,” Egwunyenga said.

He said that the Mindset and Value Reorientation Programme and the Tertiary Institution Entrepreneurship Programme were some of the schemes being implemented to the advantage of youths.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the United Nations in 2010 set aside Oct. 15 for the celebration of the World Students Day.

The day is in commemoration of the birth anniversary of former President of India, Dr  APJ Abdul Kalam, who is globally hailed for his strong commitment toward education.

The theme for the 2020 edition of the day is: “Learning for People, Planet, Prosperity, and Peace.”
