COVID-19: Vigilante Group Vows To Enforce Curfew In Zaria

The Kaduna State Vigilante Group (KadVIg) has vowed to enforce the curfew imposed by state Government in Zaria in view of the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country.

Mr Bala Galadima, the Zonal Commandant of KadVIg in Zaria, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday.

NAN reports that the Kaduna  state government on Thursday, ordered a total lockdown and  imposed a 24-hour curfew in the state following the violation of an earlier restricting order by the government.

Galadima said that the group got intelligence report that people were planning to hold marriage ceremony in Zaria in spite of the curfew and suspension of such activities.

He said the group was trailing such people with a view to apprehend them.

The commandant said the group on Wednesday arrested a bride, groom and other guests at a marriage ceremony after they violated the state directives not to hold such activities for now.

He said the arrests were made at Tudun Wada in Fanfon Gwaiba area, Layin Yan Izala and Nagoyi within Zaria town.

Galadima said the group had deployed four patrol trucks with over 500 personnel to enforce compliance to the state directives on movement restriction.

He added that Kadvig had deployed personnel at every Mosque in Zaria to ensure compliance with the directives of the state government

Galadima said that some people were insisting on holding Friday congregational prayers in spite of the temporary suspension.

NAN reports that security personnel had been deployed at strategic locations in the town to apprehend anybody violating the directives.
