The Police Command in Oyo State has warned residents of the state against violating the measures put in place by the state government and medical experts aimed at combating Coronavirus pandemic.
Fadeyi said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Shina Olukolu, had observed with dismay, the lackadaisical attitudes of some members of the public.
He said that despite several warnings some people still continued to treat those measures with disrespect and low level of compliance
He listed the measures to include: the wearing of facemasks, washing of hands with soaps and running water, and the lawful proclamation of dusk to dawn curfew from 8p.m. to 5a.m. imposed by the Oyo State Government on the residents.
“The Commissioner of Police wishes to remind all and sundry that the pandemic is real. It is no respecter of persons, status, age, office or religion.
“It is, therefore, part of our civic responsibilities as citizens to comply with the laws of the land as none of us is bigger than the law. In fact, the law is no respecter of any person.
“Consequently, this medium is for the umpteenth time being utilised to warn members of the public without exceptions, except those initially exempted for being on essential services.
`The Oyo State Police Command will continue an aggressive enforcement of all the measures put in place to combat the spread and defeat the Coronavirus pandemic in Oyo State.
“Hence, the dusk to dawn curfew from 8p.m. to 5a.m., especially, in Oyo State, will be vigorously enforced and all are, therefore, enjoined to comply in their own interests without waiting for any form of minimum force,’’ Fadeyi said.
Fadeyi said that the reinvigorated enforcement of the measures against the pandemic, particularly, the curfew would commence from Thursday May 28 and urged the citizens to co-operate with the Police to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
