As part of efforts to combat further spread of the COVID-19 in Kwara, the state government on Wednesday inaugurated technical committees in local governments.

The committees, which had health professionals and technocrats as members, were inaugurated for all the 16 local government areas of the state.

Inaugurating the committee, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajia Aisha Ahman-Pategi, reiterated the importance of setting up the committees at the local government level.

She said the inauguration of the committees at the grassroots was in line with the vision of Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to pioneer creative ideas and innovation by prioritising the welfare of the citizens of the state.

The move, she added, would bring awareness and coordination to local communities.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Razak, on his part, described the inauguration as ” historic.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that each committee will work within the local government area and submit reports to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
